Since German branding humor is currently is high in demand, I decided to share it today. Firstly, the idea is inspired by the “UBER for X” analogy prominent in startups 5-8 years ago: Others get your dog groomed in 15 minutes. We get you a social worker. Secondly, it is a reaction to the Covid denier movement in Germany. The protests literally look like clown parades. Maybe the government has to adjust? Finally reached 2k MRR on an iOS app I built 3 by alirsgp | 1 comments on Hacker News. During my senior year in college, I wanted to build a social discovery app that helped me find the most compatible people possible to pair me up on video chats with. I envisioned using grandiose AI at the time, but settled for a simpler ranking algo. After a long, long tread. I've finally hit $2k in MRR. I use firestore w/a serverless set-up, and the app scales up nicely. My profit margins are over 99.9% (aside from the 15% cut Apple is taking from me). Used SwiftUI to build the entire app. I hope to make more video chatting apps like this, but man was it a TON of work by myself. I had help from one designer with logos but that's about it. It was especially hard for me to balance iterating on this with my day job (I only really had time on weekends). I hope it lasts for a few years and I can bank $100K from it. That'd be pretty cool

Mine was a couple of years ago, I applied to an established mobile games studio and went through the steps (recruiter, technical interview, CTO). The last step was a call with the CEO. They gave me his number and insisted I add him to my contact. He was going to call on WhatsApp at 5pm my time since he was on some island somewhere living the life. That day at 5pm there was no call, I waited 10mins then sent him a text still nothing. I assumed he had connectivity issues (because of the island and all). Instead my phone rang at 2am! I'm a junior developer and I'm looking for something along the lines of what I described in the title. Some examples include making your own email server or making your own ISP (too expensive). I'm looking for something to actually do, with maybe a team of two to three people, and it can take as long as a couple of years to accomplish. I'm looking for something that's practically useful - for example having your own email server offers various benefits. As for the know-how - I'm open to learning new things as I am building what I'm building, and spend some if not most of the time learning as I go. Thanks!

It has become increasingly common to have multiple meetings through out the day. To make matter worse, the better code I write, the more meetings I get invited in. As I get more comfortable with my abilities the constant stream of interruptions is bugging me. How do I deal with this? I've talked to my boss that I am into too many meetings and he has said I can go offline and skip meetings, yet he expects me to be in meetings because he requires my expertise for complicated technical subjects that come up.
