While I wasn't hired for it specifically, my average week has my time split between product management, managing a small team to develop those products, ux design, and front-end JS/Python development. It's really a roll where I am all over the place and I do really enjoy it. However, due to the Covid reality in the world right now I am starting to think my time here is up. How can I find another job that isn't specialized to one specific roll as I really do enjoy being a jack of all trades master of none and would like to continue to do that in my next role. I'm also fairly experienced with 16 years of "jack of all trade" type positions.

I am sick of people defending Apple 5 by anfilt | 0 comments on Hacker News. The user owns the device. They should be able load software without apples blessing. The problem is simple. - There is no way for a user to load their own signing keys for the boot ROM to load other OSes like linux, or even simpler disable signature checks. - There is no way to give iOS your own signing keys or disable signing checks to run applications. As such there is no way for me to run Firefox's rendering engine. This is because the app store policies. Then there are other open source applications that don't want to bother with having a developer account with apple. There also the fact proprietary software probably raises their prices. So the user eats the 30% instead. Unlike the case if that software were able to self distribute.

These days most of tech / programming related content is very shallow, and lot of it is written for resume padding or SEO purpose. I like LWN articles, which are generally interesting and often cover technical topics that we don't know existed. I also like some ACM queue articles, they are pretty in depth. Usenix as well, while it is conference papers, I feel it has less noise than arxiv, and I am more likely to find an interesting paper. Edit: John Regehr and Prof. Lemire's blogs are also very nice.. Any other similar sources?

Her blog domain is expiring in Google Domains on her LATE HUSBAND's account. She is the estate executor. She can read his emails via his phone. If his GSuite password is not in KeePass, what recovery options does she have? My friend was 38 years old and didn't even know he was sick until January & died from an aggressive cancer by March. They were not prepared for this. Fellow geeks don't turn your home into corporate IT and make your spouse & kids feel trapped by technology while grieving your loss.

Pretty regularly in my personal life I email people who have obviously not been trained in email etiquette. I intentionally include my spouse on emails, or they me, and then we have to forward responses to each other. I know a system like zendesk might handle this but it seems a little heavyweight for personal use. Does anyone have any suggestions for a software solution to this that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg?
