My first question is intended to be a conceptually simple one, where the candidate must translate a certain everyday business logic into code. The logic has to do with counting the number of days from the beginning of the year, for a given date. I provide the number of days per month if the candidate doesn't know them. I also provide a function to check for leap years. There isn't anything inherently tricky about it. I added this question as a warm-up question before the other two main questions that are more conventional coding interview questions that involve algorithms and data structures. The solution is simpler than the solution to the two main questions. To my surprise, I found that most candidates take half of the 45 minutes allotted to do this question. Sometimes it must be restarted through rdp or ssh. Works fine as well. BUT very very rarely, strange things happens. - Router must be restarted. Lets say one time every few months. - Server’s run into problems and aren’t accessible through ssh or rdp and must be restarted manually. Just curious is it possible to somehow handle this issues remotely? Do you have some ideas? For both linux and windows. In my case I just call my parents if I’m abroud and instruct them what to do.. but maybe you guys have a better idea:)

I looked around a bit - it has tons of certifications (red flag?), doesn't seem hard to learn. Looks like there are enough jobs, as of now. Bootstrap has js components (i would like it to be js agnostic) and doesn't have dark mode feature. Bulma doesn't look good imo. Also,i feel it to be limited. Tailwind css looks good. I prototyped it for my project. But, HTML looks unnecessarily messy and verbose. Other CSS frameworks are either dead or not properly maintained. Which one are you using? should i ditch CSS framework and style using raw CSS? I am confused now.

I try to keep all my apps in dark mode and for the most part I've changed all my frequent apps except HN. It hurts my eyes. It hurts my soul a little bit. I like how the app hasn't changed for forever years, but please for the sake of my panache. I'll even built it myself if I could submit a PR.

I just set the MX records of these domains to Google's mail servers and it's been working fine ever since. However, with increasing frequency of the dreaded and un-recoverable Google bans, I am wondering if changing the MX records of a domain to a different email provider has any complications associated with it. For eg. will an overnight change in MX records be flagged by prominent email providers, resulting in subsequent mails sent from that domain consigned to spam by these providers? Why is it so trendy right now? If it's actually so useful, why does it appear only now? After reading some scientific stuff, I kind of understood that to not damage your eyes, the best is to keep the same brightness level when your sight switches from a context to another. Which means that during the day, light mode is supposed to be healthier for your eyes, because you're switching between your monitor and somewhere else in the room. And this means that on your computer, you should avoid switching from a dark window to a light window, or vice versa. But while it's easy to have 100% of your content in light theme (well.. 99% due to Spotify), the opposite seems more complicated. Mostly I find I'm the only one listening :) I've been thinking recently about the state of the country, all the crazy news I read and the perspective I've gained from it all (especially during and now shortly after the "Trump years"). What I've sort of come up with is a way of reasoning about the situation we appear to have gotten ourselves into. One part of the premise is that, even though it's been in full fledged use by most of the country for a few decades now, the internet is still in its infancy.
