Ask HN: Better to submit scientific paper here than a news story about it?

I ask because when I submit a news story, there's often a predominantly negative tone to the comments because of any number of reasons: clickbait headline, inaccuracies, writer's knowledge base and credentials, misinterpretation of scientific results, methodology, etc. Yet when I submit original scientific papers, far more often than not they pass through HN unremarked, as if they never appeared.
